CURCS Mini-Grants

Question

What are CURCS Mini-Grants and who is eligible to apply?

Answer

The Council for Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship (CURCS) offers mini-grants to support undergraduate students engaged in research and creative scholarship at the University of South Dakota.

Students may apply for funding to:

  • Support a new research or creative scholarship project.
  • Continue an existing research or creative scholarship project.
  • Travel to present research or creative work that has been accepted for presentation at a regional, national, international conference, or another discipline-appropriate professional event.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a CURCS Mini-Grant, applicants must:

  • Be a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of South Dakota.
  • Maintain full-time undergraduate status when the mini-grant is awarded and funds are distributed.

Recipient Requirements

All award recipients are required to present their research or creative scholarship at IdeaFest during the spring semester (typically held in early April).

Exceptions may be granted for students who:

  • Are presenting at another conference during IdeaFest.
  • Will be studying away from campus during the spring semester and make alternative presentation arrangements through the Gallagher Center.
  • Have a university-sponsored event that conflicts with IdeaFest and arrange an alternative presentation opportunity.
