Overview
The Office of Accessibility offers alternative format digital textbooks for qualifying students registered with the Office of Accessibility. This service is designed to ensure that every student has equitable access to the academic resources they need to succeed.
Step 1) Register with the Office of Accessibility and provide a receipt for the purchase of the textbook.
Step 2) Submit a request for the alternative format textbook by filling out the online form at Application for E-Books with the Office of Accessibility or emailing accessibility@usd.edu
Step 3) Receive your accessible e-textbooks quickly and efficiently through an emailed share drive link
Benefits
Textbooks are available in formats compatible with screen readers, text-to-speech software, and other assistive technologies.
Target Completion Date
It can take 5 to 21 days to process a request for alternative format textbook, depending on the publisher's availability of the electronic version.
Available To
Free e-textbooks is a type of academic accommodation available to qualified students who are registered with the Office of Accessibility.
Cost
Free. There is no cost for this service.
Policies
The Office of Accessibility cannot provide textbooks free of charge. Therefore, alternative format textbook requests must be accompanied by evidence of purchase.
