What print queue does my printer use?

Environment

  • Windows 10

Resolution

If the printer is already installed, or you know someone else that can print to the printer, perform these steps on the computer that has it installed

  1. Click
  2. Type Printers
  3. Click Printers and Scanners
  4. Click on the printer
  5. Click Manage
  6. Click Printer properties
  7. Click Ports tab
  8. The print queue for that printer will be check marked

If the printer is not installed

  1. USD printers are named with this convention
    1. Building abbreviation, room, make or device function: SL307_BW or SL307_HP451
    2. Building abbreviation, minus the preceding U
  2. The printer will be on \\usd-print01\ or \\usd-print02\
  3. Click
  4. Type \\usd-print01 or \\usd-print02
  5. Press Enter
  6. Search through the list for a printer that matches the convention in Step 1.A
  7. If you are still unsure, please contact the Service Desk and provide the following information
    1. Name
    2. Location of printer
    3. Model of printer
    4. The asset tag NI number on the back of the printer
