Issue/Question

A users needs to access voice mail option for a phone that has been migrated to Webex calling

Environment

  • Cisco 8851 phone

Resolution

  1. From a USD phone dial 605658
  2. You will be asked for PIN
  3. Enter * and the ten digit phone number you need to access the voice mail for
  4. You will be prompted for PIN - if you have not set up a PIN for the line enter 172839
  5. If this is the first time accessing, after you enter 172839 you will be prompted to create a new PIN - create a PIN following the standards below:
    1. Use 6–30 digits (needs minimum of 6)
    2. Use a variety of digits and avoid patterns
    3. The PIN cannot have the following:
      1. Repeat digit patterns (e.g. 121212 or 13571357)
      2. Use any of your last 10 voicemail PINs
      3. Use your current PIN in reverse order
      4. Use your phone number or extension
      5. Use the same digit more than 3 times in a row (e.g. 222211)
      6. Use more than 3 consecutive ascending or descending digits (e.g. 1234 or 9876)
      7. Use your phone number or extension in reverse order
  6. If accessing the first time, after you have created a new PIN, when it asks to record you name, enter what you would like the voice mail greeting to say
  7. When finished hit 
  8. The voice mailbox menu items will be listed
