Question

What are the community living policies?

Where is the list of community living policies?

What happens if I violate a community living policy?

Answer

  1. The community living policies (CLPs) are rules set by University Housing to ensure the safety and well being of all students. These regulations and responsibilities help keep our residence halls safe and comfortable.
  2. The list of CLPs can be found on the USD website, or by clicking University of South Dakota University Housing Community Living Policies
    • Note: CLPs are subject to change at any time, so be sure to check the list at each new semester and reach out to your resident assistant if you have any questions about policies.
  3. Depending on the severity of policy violations, University Housing may either:
    • give a verbal warning and document the violation in our student housing portal
    • intervene as necessary and document the violation in our student conduct system
      • Note: Intervening as necessary may include University Housing staff requesting help from University Police.
  4. Following serious policy violations, students may be required to meet with the director of student rights and responsibilities in order to discuss any consequences of the violation.
