Question
How to insert a pivot table in Excel?
Answer
- When the data is ready, place the cursor anywhere in the data.
- Then, on the Insert tab, in the Tables group, click PivotTable. The Create PivotTable dialog box opens.
- A table or range is already selected for you. The Table/Range box shows the range of the selected data.
- New Worksheet is also selected for you as the place where the report will be placed (you can click Existing Worksheet if you don't want the report placed in a new worksheet). Click OK.
- When you first create your pivot table you should see two different tables. The first is the Pivot Table. The Pivot Table will appear on the left side of your screen. The second is the Pivot Table Field List. This will appear on the right side of your screen.
Notice that PivotTable Tools appear on the Ribbon, including the Analyze and Design tabs.
