How to map a network drive
X drive is gone
How do I see what is in my user folder?
Environment
- Windows 11
- Windows 10
- Windows 7
Resolution
Note: To map to the network share you need to be connected to the network via Ethernet or VPN if working remotely
Note: USD Network Drives cannot be accessed on personal computers
- Open Windows File Explorer by pressing +E on the keyboard
- Right click This PC
Note: In Windows 7 - Click My Computer
- Click Map Network Drive
- Assign a drive letter to map the drive
Note: Z: drive is assigned as default
- Type the network path into the Folder field
- \\usd.local\storage\network_share
Ex: \\usd.local\storage\student_services
- Check Reconnect at sign-in to show mapped drive each time you sign into this computer
- Click Finish
