Environment
- Windows 10
- Internet Explorer 11 (IE)
Cause
The most common causes of Internet Explorer crashes like this are toolbars, add-ons, or Browser Helper Objects
Resolution
- Delete and recreate Internet Explorer shortcut
- Right click IE on Taskbar
- Select Unpin this program from taskbar
- Right click IE on Desktop
- Click Delete
- Press
- Type Internet
- Right click Internet Explorer
- Select Pin to taskbar
- Repeat steps g and h
- Select Open file location
- Right click Internet Explorer
- Click Send to
- Select Desktop (create shortcut)
Note: It is always a good idea to make a backup copy of your favorites prior to the resetting Internet Explorer
- Make a back up copy of your Favorites
- Open the folder in the taskbar
- Navigate to C:\users\your profile name
- Right click Favorites
- Click copy
- Right click an open space in the Windows Explorer
- Click paste
- Reset Internet Explorer
- Close all Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows
- Press the + R
- At the Run window that comes up, type inetcpl.cpl
- Press Enter
- When Internet Options opens, Click Advanced tab.
- Look for Reset Internet Explorer Settings
- Click Reset
- When Internet Explorer finishes restoring the default settings, click Close
- Open Internet Explorer
Note: If this does not work try step 4
- Update video card drivers
- Set Internet Explorer to run as an Administrator
- Click
- Type Internet Explorer
- Right click Internet Explorer
- Click Open File Location
- Right click Internet Explorer
- Click Properties
- Click Shortcut
- Click Advanced
- Select Run as administrator
- Click OK
- Click OK
