Updating Bio-Rad PCR Firmware

Issue/Question

I need help upgrading a PCR machine in the lab

The Bio-Rad machine does not recognize the upgrade file on the USB

Environment

• Bio-Rad polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine

Cause

Compressed file not in expected location on USB drive

Resolution

1. Download the update file from Bio-Rad web site
2. Right-click the downloaded file and click Extract All...
3. Check Show extracted files when complete
4. Click Extract
5. Double-click to open the extracted folder
6. Copy the zip file to a USB drive
   Note: This zip file cannot be within a folder on the USB drive
7. Insert the USB drive into the PCR unit
8. Follow upgrade instructions in extracted folder
