Body

Question

What do I do if I get unexpected Duo push-notifications?

Answer

  1. Push notification authentication attacks are on the rise with cyber-criminals trying to get access to your account and our network.
  2. If you are not trying to authenticate your account, deny the request.
  3. Hackers may try this multiple times to trick you and let fatigue set in to get you to approve the malicious request and gain access to your account

Duo Authentication Screen sample. Are you logging in to USD ADFS? Web: University of South Dakota, Location Vermillion, SD, US, bubble asking Location correct? Time: 10:25, person your name @usd.edu, Deny and approve buttons.

If you suspect any abnormal push notification requests, deny them and contact the Service Desk.
