Link to a New File in Word

Question

How do I add a hyperlink to a new file in Word?

Answer

  1. In the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, click on the Create New Document option on the Link to column.
  2. Type the name of the new file in the Name of new document field.
  3. Under when to edit, click edit the new document later or Edit the new document now, depending on your preference.
  4. To customize the ScreenTip that appears when you rest the pointer over the hyperlink, click Screen Tip and then type the text that you want. If you don't specify a tip, Word uses the path or address of the file as the tip.
