How do I add Youtube automatic captions to a Panopto video?

Answer

  1. Navigate to Panopto, and hover over the video you wish to add the captions 
  2. The options Settings, Share, Edit, Status, and Delete will appear, click on Edit
  3. Once in the Panopto editor, click on Captions on the left-hand side
  4. Hit the arrow next to Import Captions, select from Upload or request captions
  5. Under the heading Upload Captions, click on Choose File, and navigate to where the transcript download from YouTube is saved on your computer
  6. Once selected, click Upload Captions.
  7. You may now exit Panopto Editor, and navigate back to Panopto in D2L
  8. From here, click on the video you added captions to
  9. Once in the viewer, click on the Captions tab on the left-hand side to verify that the correct captions have been uploaded
