Body

Issue/Question

Logged onto Cognos and had no reports that I built in My Content

Environment

  • Cognos 11

Cause

No known cause, items in My Contents in Cognos are solely created, maintained, backed up by the user who owns them

Resolution

  1. There is no resolution to items missing from My Content, even by system administrators
  2. To avoid accidental loss of items, the report specification can be saved to an XML file and saved outside Cognos
    1. Log in to Cognos
    2. Navigate to the report speciification you'd like to save
    3. Click on the three dots ... to the right of the item
    4. Select the Edit report option
    5. Select the Report option under the Report item in the Navigation menu at the top of the page
    6. Click the Copy icon  to copy the report specification to the clipboard
    7. Open a text editor, such as Notepad
    8. Paste the XML into the open file
    9. Save the file to a location of your choice to keep it safe
  3. An alternative, or additional measure that can be taken is to create a folder in Public Folders and copy the report to that folder
