Search in Windows Explorer Not Working

Issue/Question

I am running into a problem searching for files in Windows.  I had this problem a few months ago too that ITS fixed.  However it has returned.

My Search file function is not working on my computer. I am unable to search for files because it won’t let me access the box to type the search box.

Environment

• Windows 10
• File Explorer

Cause

There are multiple reasons that can cause this issue.

Resolution

1. Press +X
2. Select Task Manager
3. Under Processes Tab select Windows Explorer
4. Right Click Windows Explorer
5. Select Restart
6. Try searching again
