Word Constantly Crashing

Issue/Question

I’ve had Word crash three times. Each time I have lost the document I was working on

Environment

  • Microsoft Word 2011
  • macOS

Cause

Office for Mac 2011 client mainstream support is ended on October 10, 2017

Resolution

ITS STAFF ONLY

Uninstall Office 2011

  1. Map to \\usd-storage04\its\applications\apple\
  2. Click Office 2011 removal tool
  3. Copy Remove2011-master
  4. Paste it on Desktop
  5. Open the Folder
  6. Double click Remove2011
  7. Press Y
  8. Press Return
  9. Press Y
  10. Press Return
  11. Press N
  12. Press Return
  13. Enter the logged in users Password
  14. Press Return
  15. Close Terminal Window when process is completed

Install Office 365

  1. Have user login to Mail.usd.edu
  2. Click  in upper right hand corner
  3. Select Office 365
  4. Click Install Office
