Receiving an Error When Trying to Open Zoom

An error popped up when trying to open Zoom

Error: zvideoApp.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error

Received an error when trying to open Zoom

Unable to start a Zoom session in the classroom 

Unable to start a Zoom session inside of D2L

Environment

  • Smart classroom
  • Zoom

Cause

Zoom client is not installed

.dll files are corrupted

Resolution

  1. Open a new web browser window or tab
  2. Type in the address bar usd.zoom.us
  3. Click Host to start a meeting
  4. Log in if needed
  5. Click Open Zoom Meetings
  6. Do not see that option, check to see if the Zoom app .exe file automatically downloaded 
  7. If downloaded, click on the .exe file to install
  8. If it did not download, click the Download Now link on the web page
  9. Install the Zoom Client 
  10. Still unable to start Zoom, see step 11
  11. Please contact the Service Desk with the following information: 
    1. Building name
    2. Room number
    3. A detailed description of the issue and include any error messages
