Issue/Question

My PS4 is broadcasting itself as an available Wi-Fi hotspot and interfering with Wi-Fi.

Environment

  • Wi-fi
  • Dorms
  • Resident Halls

Cause

If you have Remote Play turned on along with the option to connect directly to a PS Vita, then the PS4 sets itself up as an access point with its own rogue SSID. These features can affect performance of USD's wireless network for everyone.

Resolution

PS4:

  1. Open PS4 Settings
  2. Select Remote Play Connection Settings
  3. Clear the check on Enable Remote Play
