Issue/Question

I responded to an email. Is there a way to recall it quickly?

Environment

  • Outlook 365

Cause

Mistakenly sent an email

Resolution

  1. Open Outlook application
  2. Click on Sent Items
  3. Double click on the message you want to recall
  4. Go to the Message tab
  5. In the Move group click on More Move Actions
  6. Click on Recall This Message
  7. A popup will appear
    1. Select the appropriate options and click OK

Note: Recalling an email message will only be successful if the following conditions are met:

  1. The recipient has a USD email address (It will not work if the message was sent to someone outside the University)
  2. The message must still be unread and in the recipient's Inbox
