Problems Booting into Windows

Issue/Question

Error: Startup repair and unable to log on

Error:  Missing Operating System

My computer does not boot up to Windows

Environment

• Windows OS

Cause

Corrupt operating system can cause this

Corrupt information in the BIOS

Computer is attempting to boot to USB device

Resolution

1. Unplug power cord
   Note: For laptops, Steady press power button for 5-10 seconds to shutdown
2. Remove all USB devices
3. After 30 seconds plug back in
4. Turn on system
   Note: If system still doesn't boot follow steps below
5. Restart the system
6. Attempt to boot into safe mode
7. If system still will not boot contact the Service Desk with the following information
   1. Asset tag number
   2. Building
   3. Room number
