Issue/Question

Can you tell me if we need to get all of our computers upgraded to Windows 10

Computer is currently running Windows 7 Professional, Would like to update the computer to a more current operating system

How do I upgrade my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10?

Environment

  • University-owned computer
  • Windows
  • Software Center

Cause

Microsoft will end support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. Computers running Windows 7 will need to be upgraded before then.

Resolution

  1. Open Software Center
  2. Choose Operating Systems
  3. Select Upgrade to Windows 10 1903
  4. Click Install
    Note: This process may take 1-3 hours to complete. You do not need to stay by your computer during this time
  5. If there are any issues, or you need assistance, please contact the Service Desk with the following information
    1. Name
    2. Phone number
    3. Computer NI numbers that need to be upgraded
