Cause

Safe Links is a security feature of Microsoft's Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) that proactively protects the University from malicious links in email messages and Office documents

Resolution

  • Safe Links rewrites links in email following the pattern https://...safelinks.protection.outlook.com...
  • You may notice the link has changed in the email message, or you may notice it only when you hover over the link
  • Safe Links analyzes a link when you click to prevent malicious websites that try to steal your password or install ransomware
