Issue/Question

Need Adobe file encrypted to email to another party in my department with the department chosen password

Environment

  • Adobe Acrobat

Cause

Request for sensitive data in an encryped file.

Resolution

  1. Open the PDF
  2. Click Tools> Protect> Encrypt> Encrypt with Password
  3. If prompted: Click Yes to change the security 
  4. Select Require A Password To Open The Document
  5. Type the standard password determined by the department
  6. Select an Acrobat version from the Compatibility drop-down menu
  7. Choose a version equal to or lower than the recipients' version of Acrobat or Reader
  8. Select Encrypt All Document Contents
  9. Click OK
  10. Confirm the password
  11. Click OK
