Resolution

  1. Accept the work study award on your electronic award notification via your student self-service portal:
    1. Log into myUSD Portal
    2. In quick links, Click Financial Aid Self-Service
    3. In Select Campus Click and select University of South Dakota 
    4. Under the Financial Aid tab, select Award
    5. Select Award for Aid Year
    6. Choose the correct Financial Aid year
    7. In the Award Package for Award year, select Accept Award Offer
    8. Accept or decline your awards
  2. Students should use Coyote Careers to check job listings for open work-study positions as well as local part-time employment 
  3. Even as you are looking for a job:
    1. Be prepared to share your class schedule and any other relevant time commitments with potential employers
    2. When you are offered a work-study job, make sure that the working dates, wage, schedule, and other expectations are clear before you accept the offer
  4. New hire forms require employees to fill out a W-4, direct deposit form and an I-9
    1. The I-9 requires hard copy documents that show identification and proof of eligibility to work
      • For most students this is either a passport or both a physical social security card and your drivers license
