Video plays without Audio when plugged in to Classroom via HDMI

Issue/Question

I have a video that plays audio normally out of my laptop speakers.  When I plug the laptop into the classroom system via HDMI the audio from the video does not play.  Other audio from the laptop plays correctly.

Environment

  • Smart Classroom

Cause

The video is mixed with Audio in only the left channel, and the room is only playing audio from the right channel.

Resolution

  1. Please contact the Service Desk with the Building and Room Number you experienced the issue in.  The steps below are a workaround that can get audio playing temporarily
  2.  Open the Video with VLC Media Player
  3. Click Audio
  4. Select Right under Stereo Mode
  5. See if audio is working
  6. If not, select Left under Stereo Mode
