How can I adjust the ringer on my Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone

Environment

  • VoIP
  • Cisco 8851 VoIP phone

Resolution

  1. Press the minus   or plus  button repeatedly until the desired volume level is reached
  2. To turn the ringer off, press the minus button   repeatedly until silent
  3. Ringtones can also be disabled with the following steps:
    1. Press  Settings
    2. Press 4 for User preferences
    3. Press 5 for Ringtone
    4. Select Ext 1 with the center Circle navigation button
    5. Press 1 for No ringtone
    6. Repeat steps for other Extensions if needed
  4. If you wish to silence the ringer for a single line of a phone with multiple lines, please contact the Service Desk with the following information: 
    1. Which line(s) you wish to silence
