Issue/Question

Audio is not playing or is playing out of computer speakers instead of external speakers

Environment

  • Mac OS

Cause

The Audio Output Device is set incorrectly in the operating system

Resolution

  1. Verify speakers are plugged into a power source (if powered)
  2. Verify speakers are plugged into the headphone or speaker jack
  3. Verify the audio output source is set to the correct output device in the Operating System
    1. Windows:
      1. Click the  icon in the taskbar
      2. Click the  or 
      3. Select the correct Output Device
    2. Mac OS X:
      1. Open System Preferences
      2. Double-Click Sound
      3. Double-Click the correct Output Device
