What is the U.Discover Summer Scholars Program?
Answer
The U.Discover Summer Scholars Program is an opportunity for undergraduate students to perform research or creative scholarship over 10 weeks during the summer under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Students from all disciplines are welcome and encouraged to apply. If selected, students will receive an hourly stipend for 300 hours of work.

I.D. Weeks Library is home to nationally and internationally recognized collections related to:
- Native American history and culture
- South Dakota and American politics
- South Dakota women's suffrage movement
- Settlement of the Northern Plains
- Collegiate athletics in South Dakota
- The Missouri River Basin
- The history of the violin and the violin family of instruments
Priority for the Library Archive Scholar will be given to a proposal that incorporates historical inquiry into the methodology and draws either upon any of the collections in Archives and Special Collections, the South Dakota Oral History Center, or the Mahoney Music Collection.
Community-Based Research Scholar
The Community-Based Research Scholar must work with a community organization on a project that has been developed to address a need jointly identified by both stakeholders and is based on reciprocity for the University and the community.
As with the standard program, all disciplines are welcome to apply.
